2026 Federal Individual Tax Update: Form 1040 Changes and Planning Under the New Law
The 2026 filing season is the first in which much of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act lands on a full-year Form 1040, and several of its provisions start on January 1, 2026. This course walks through what is new for 2026 individual returns and what your clients will ask about: the inflation-adjusted rates and standard deduction, the new deductions for tips, overtime, car loan interest and seniors, the higher SALT cap and its phase-down, the Child Tax Credit, the new charitable deduction for non-itemizers and the new limits on itemized deductions, Trump accounts for children, and the energy credits that are no longer available. Art Werner explains each change in practical terms, with examples you can use at the preparer's desk and in client conversations, so you finish the day ready for the 2027 filing season and year-end planning.
