Troubleshooting Guide

Buffering occurs when your internet can't download video fast enough. Common causes:

  • Slow Speed: We recommend at least 20 Mbps
  • Network Congestion: Other devices using bandwidth
  • Wi-Fi Issues: Weak signal or interference
  • VPN: Can significantly slow connections
  • Refresh the page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
  • Close unnecessary browser tabs
  • Disconnect from VPN
  • Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  • Pause downloads and cloud backups
  • Move closer to your router
  • Restart router (unplug 30 seconds)
  • Use 5GHz band if available
  • Connect via Ethernet cable
  • Check for interference (microwaves, baby monitors)
  • Limit connected devices

Mobile hotspots have slower, less consistent speeds affected by:

  • Cell signal strength
  • Data throttling after limits
  • Network congestion during peak hours

Recommendation: Use traditional internet (minimum 8 Mbps)

  • Update your browser to latest version
  • Clear browser cache and cookies
  • Disable browser extensions temporarily
  • Close background applications
  • Enable hardware acceleration in settings

Company networks may have:

  • Video streaming restrictions
  • Firewall blocking certain ports
  • Proxy servers adding latency

Solution: Contact IT or use personal device on different network

90-100 Excellent - Flawless streaming
70-89 Good - Minor adjustments may occur
50-69 Fair - Some buffering expected
<50 Poor - Significant issues

Key Metrics:

  • Buffer: Should stay above 3 seconds
  • Stalls: Zero is ideal
  • Switches: Frequent = unstable connection
  • Dropped Frames: High = choppy video

Our video is delivered via Cloudflare Stream over HLS (.m3u8) through Cloudflare's global CDN. Playback selects the best quality automatically based on your connection.

  • Global CDN: Content is served from servers close to you to reduce latency and buffering.
  • Adaptive Streaming: The player switches between resolutions (e.g., 1080p, 720p) to keep playback smooth.
  • Corporate Networks: Some organizations throttle or block streaming. If you see frequent buffering or errors, ask IT to allow HLS traffic and Cloudflare domains.
  • Domains: Allow traffic to *.cloudflarestream.com and *.cloudflare.com. HLS uses HTTPS and standard web ports (443).
  • VPN: VPNs can add latency and reduce throughput. Disconnect if possible during the test.

Tip: A steady buffer above 3 seconds and few quality switches indicate a healthy connection.
